Mount Bromo

Mt. Bromo volcano in East Java is the active cone inside the giant Tengger caldera, one of Indonesia’s most scenic locations destinations in East Java, famous for its magnificent sunrise views and the panorama over the caldera with Semeru volcano in the background.

Kawah Ijen

Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen Volcano, on the island of Java, has two of the most unusual occurrences on Earth. The first is an active solfataras that emits hot, flammable sulfurous gases. These ignite as they enter Earth’s oxygen-rich atmosphere and burn with an electric blue flame. Some of the gas condenses in the atmosphere to produce flows of molten sulfur that also burn with an electric blue flame.

The second occurrence is a one-kilometre-wide caldera lake filled with turquoise-blue water. The colour of the water is a result of its extreme acidity and a high concentration of dissolved metals. It is the world’s largest highly acidic lake with a measured pH as low as 0.5. The cause of its acidity is an inflow of hydrothermal waters charged with gases from a hot magma chamber below.

Mount Bromo IjenCraterr Detail Program

Day 01. Surabaya (airport/hotel) – Cemara Lawang 

We pick you up at your hotel in Malang. We drive for approximately four hours to the village of Cemara Lawang. We overnighted in the Bromo area to stay in a hotel overlooking the landscape and the volcano Bromo.

Day 02.  Mount Bromo sunrise tour – Ijen | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

You will be woken up at 03.00 a.m., have a cup of coffee or tea before we leave for a short drive – 40 minutes – to Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area, to see the sunrise. But, of course, whether you can see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. Then we will descend to the Sea of Sand to see the crater of Mount Bromo.

Afterwards, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. After that, we continue our trip and drive around 4 hours to Pasir Putih Beach to have lunch at a beachside restaurant.

Hereafter, we drive for another 3 hours before we arrive at the village of Sempol/Blawan (Ijen area) to pass the night. You have time to explore the surroundings and spend some leisure time in the hotel if you like. There is, among others, a hot spring in the area.

Day 03. Ijen trekking – Surabaya | Mount Bromo Ijen crater

Around 01:00 am, the Ijen expedition team will bring you to the parking area of Mount Ijen, around 50 minutes from the hotel. This trip crossed the Arabica coffee plantation. After arrival at the parking area, continue trekking to the Ijen crater, which takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Trekking to the Ijen crater about 3Km ( 2.386m ). Enjoying the wonderful blue fire/blue flame and acid lake.

After sunrise, the Ijen expedition team will bring you back to the parking area. On the way, you can see the beautiful panorama and the sulfur miners. In around 1 hour, you will arrive di the parking area, here you can drink some coffee or tea. After that, we continue to drive back to Malang,  SurabayKetapang Harbour, and the tour program finishes.
