ITTENARARY

Day 01 : Pick up service

Starting from Surabaya Airport, Train station or from your hotel in the Surabaya area, our english speaking driver will pick you up with an AC vehicle to bring you to the mount Bromo area (+-4 hours). Arriving in your hotel in Cemoro Lawang, a village overlooking the Bromo-Tenger caldera, you will have some time to rest and enjoy the view.

Day 02 : Bromo sunrise & volcano

Wake up at 3:00 am for a departure at 3:30. A 4WD vehicle will pick you up from your hotel to bring you to Penanjakan View point (2775m) located just north of the caldera on the highest point of the rim of the Bromo-Tengger national park. As this place is quite crowded, leaving early will ensure you to reach the viewpoint before dawn and have a good position to watch the sunrise of a lifetime over a sea of sand and many volcanoes. If a landscape was ever needed to demonstrate the meaning of the phrase “desolate beauty”, then this is surely it. From there if the weather is clear, you can see up to the majestic stratovolcano Semeru that sits just behind the Bromo. this mountain is also iconic, puffing ashes and smoke through small eruptions every 30mins. Ancient Javanese Hindu texts tell of how Bromo-Penanjakan-Semeru was the spiritual axis of the universe and the point of all creation. The view from Penanjakan will explain why it is truly breathtaking. After this, back in 4WD, thought the sea of sand we will continue our journey to the Broom crater. From the parking area you have to options to reach the crater, by foot (free) or horse riding (not included) passing right next to “The Poten”.The Poten is the Tenggerese Hindu temple that sits looking eerily beautiful in the sea of sand close to Mount Bromo. There is something quite magical about this place and the frugality of its decoration and austere design seems very appropriate for the location. It takes around 30 mins to reach the crater rim. Bromo is still a very active volcano and sometimes the access is restricted to some areas for security concerns. We will keep you informed about the status at the time of reservation. At 8:00, back in the car for breakfast at your hotel and then starting our journey to Pronojiwo (nearest village to tumpak sewu waterfall. Upon arrival, check in at Homestay, rest and free leisure until next program.

Day 03 : Tumpak Sewu waterfall

Breakfast at 06:30 AM and get ready to explore Tumpak sewu waterfall. Take 3 hours to explore the Batch sewu area. Trekking trough tropical landscape of Java Island within Semeru volcano standing tall as the highest Volcano in Java at Background. 10 minute walk from the parking area, you will get a panoramic sight of the waterfall from above, a curtain of silky smooth waterfalls. Then you have an option to see the waterfall from its foot. Take the steep path down for about 30 minutes, crossing rivers and various steep hills on the way. Take pictures and enjoy the amazing waterfall before proceeding trekking on the river to find your way out and visiting the cave drops. Returning at the parking area, having lunch and checking out from the homestay. Afterwards, direct transfer to Banyuwangi for about 6-7 hours drive. Upon Arrival, check in at the hotel and free leisure.

Day 04 : Ijen blue flames & sunrise

Starting from your hotel in Banyuwangi, our english speaking driver will pick you up around 12:00pm. From there, we will bring you to Paltuding rest area (1-1,5 hour). The road offers a number of magic landscapes in the middle of rice fields, small villages and one one the last primary tropical rainforest left on Java island rounded by numerous volcanoes. You will mainly enjoy those sceneries on the way back during daytime. From Paltuding Area, at around 1:30pm, you will start hiking to Ijen Crater. It takes about 1:30 -1:45 minutes for the 3km hike following gentle slope and slightly uphill to reach the summit. The path is pretty well maintained in good condition and other views of rounding volcanoes and luxurious vegetation will accompany your journey. From the crater rim, providing you gas mask, we will bring you down to see the blue fire right on the edge of the acidic lake (temperature of the lake : +- 40°c; Ph: 0,5 ; max depth:+-200m). The laker is also the source for the river Banyupahit, resulting in highly acidic and metal-enriched river water which has a significant detrimental effect on the downstream river ecosystem.

Hike to go down (+- 45mins, rocky) .

The blue fire is ignited sulphuric gas, which emerges from cracks at temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 degrees Fahrenheit). Those gases are directly originated from the magmatic chamber under the volcano. The flames can be up to 5 metres high; some of the gas condenses to liquid and is still ignited. It is the largest blue flame area in the world and one of the purest sulfur mine. Escaping volcanic gases are channelled through a network of ceramic pipes, resulting in condensation of molten sulfur. The sulphur, which is deep red in colour when molten, pours slowly from the ends of these pipes and pools on the ground, turning bright yellow as it cools. The miners break the cooled material into large pieces and carry it away in baskets. Miners carry loads ranging from 75 kilograms to 90 kilograms, up 300 metres to the crater rim, with a gradient of 45 to 60 degrees and Most miners make this journey twice a day. (wikipedia)

Bali and over the entire volcanic area.

The hike to go down takes about 45 – 1h. The driver will pick you up in Paltuding to go back to your hotel to have breakfast. After breakfast we continue our journey to Surabaya or Bali
